Pros

  • We use Conga primarily for document generation.
  • An example is Generation of Proposals
  • Another example is generation of quotes
  • We have also used Conga to generate invoices
  • At times we have used Conga to generate formal documents for Govt purposes. Essentially any type of document that is based on Salesforce data is a good use case for Conga.

Cons

  • While it is a much easier experience than using code to arrive at a document solution, it can still get VERY technical. Beyond the click and drag style of the document that you see in the demonstrations.
  • When it goes wrong, finding out WHERE it has gone wrong can be maddening. There is a lot of support out there but that sometimes translates to a vast amount of options to investigate when troubleshooting.

Pros

  • Branching logic in forms – This allows for a single form to cover related processes depending on choices made in the form.
  • Seamless integration with Office 365, allowing us to drive actions in the workflow based on item changes in SharePoint Online
  • The fact that it uses a separate service to offload the processing power instead of having to provide it as part of our organization.

Cons

  • Updating Nintex to fix bugs in a production environment can be challenging at times and requires thorough testing in a QA environment first as it doesn’t always go smoothly.
  • Separating Nintex content databases and moving site collections with large workflows can be a daunting task.
  • ❌ Nintex workflow timer jobs can use a lot of server resources at times and application server load balancing should be implemented instead of running on a single server.

Formstack

What is Formstack?

Formstack Documents automates your document generation so your sales team can easily generate contracts and proposals.

Categories

Formstack Documents (formerly WebMerge) is categorized as Document Creation and Document Generation

Pricing

  • ➤ Starting at $31.99 USD per user per month.
  • ➤ 100 Documents per month.

Pros

  • It consumes PDF applications and prefills them from a database or form. If your file is not in PDF form it can work from applications such as Microsoft Word.
  • It has logic that enables you to bundle applications based on criteria. For example you could bundle state specific applications with new business applications if a state criteria is met.
  • It has several integration partners in the fields of E Signature and Forms.

Cons

  • If you don’t know anything about these types of programs, it can be hard to learn it at first. There is a bit of a learning curve, especially when you get into the designer. It looks like MS Word, but not as expansive.
  • There have been times I’ve delved into the more complicated pieces and the lingo used wasn’t easy to understand. This hasn’t occurred much.
  • ❌ I would like it to keep up with current upgrades for MS Office, but I also realize they can’t be trying to match other companies while trying to maintain the innovation of their own.

Features

  • Seamlessly merge your Salesforce data into a Formstack document to create:
  •   ➝Contracts
  •   ➝Reports
  •   ➝Proposals
  •   ➝Receipts
  •   ➝Invoices
  •   ➝Quotes
  • Into the following formats:
  •   ➝Word
  •   ➝Excel
  •   ➝PowerPoint
  •   ➝Acrobat
  • Multiple delivery options allow you to seamlessly integrate document generation into your workflows and deliver information to clients fast.
