What Workato is, and who it is for

Workato is an enterprise integration platform as a service — an iPaaS — that connects Salesforce to the other systems a business runs on and automates the work that moves between them. Instead of custom API code, integration logic is built as recipes: visual sequences of triggers, conditions and actions that an administrator can read without opening a codebase.

The Salesforce connector supports real-time triggers through outbound messages and Change Data Capture rather than polling on an interval, which is what makes "the moment the stage changes" a real design option instead of a nightly batch job. Workato has since extended the platform beyond classic integration into agentic orchestration — Agent Studio, agents that can be called from inside a recipe, and an enterprise Model Context Protocol implementation. It is worth being blunt about fit. Workato earns its licence cost when you have several systems that genuinely need to talk to each other, real transaction volume, and someone accountable for the result. If you need two apps connected once and never touched again, a lighter tool will cost you less — and we will tell you so on the call rather than after the statement of work.

Provides the connectors, the recipe engine, the job history and the security model. It is the platform. You licence it directly from Workato — Twopir does not resell it.

Documented, named, version-controlled recipes inside your own Workato workspace, plus the runbook and the training to maintain them. Nothing is locked to us.

Where configuration ends and development begins. If the logic can be expressed in Workato's recipe builder against a connector action that already exists, it is configuration, and it is quoted by the recipe. The moment you need a connector nobody has written, a transformation the builder cannot express, or logic that has to execute inside Salesforce — Apex, Flow, or bulk handling written around governor limits — it is custom development, and it is quoted as a build.

We draw that line in writing during discovery, before the statement of work, because it is the single most common place an integration budget gets doubled after it is signed.
